LBRY: A Blockchain Based Decentralised YouTube Alternative

It is a free open source and community run platform for sharing digital content.
It is a new protocol with a peer to peer, decentralized file sharing and payment network secured with blockchain technology.
You own your data, you control the network. Indeed you are the network.

Content creators can use LBRY to share digital content like videos, music, images, e-books and even podcasts. As a user, you can use the platform to watch videos, listen to music and read e-books.

The platform doesn't have ads on its website and does not track you in order to serve you ads like YouTube does. It is ad free if you are logged into the network or using it's app. LBRY app is available for Android, iOS, Windows, Linux and macOS. The mobile apps also show you the value of your LBC in USD.

You can browse their website here. It has both light and dark modes.

LBRY is governed by its own cryptocurrency called LBRY Credits or LBC for short. These can be earned in various ways including using their mobile app which is still in beta. You can find the entire source code of LBRY project on its GitHub repository.
  • Publishing Content - Uploading on the platform earns you some LBC.
  • Following Creators on the platform.
  • Commenting on their works(videos, images, music etc)
  • Daily watch Rewards - You earn a random reward for watching anything at all.
  • Following reward - If you are a content creator you earn a reward if you get a following or followers.
  • Inviting others to use the platform - Earn 15 LBC for each user that joins the platform using your invite link. If you join LBC using my link, both you and I will be credited LBC.
  • Tips - Content creators can be sent LBC by people watching your content. They are called tips.
  • Content creators can also set a price on their content so that viewers pay LBC in order to watch.
  • Earn LBC by crediting the person who invited you if you didn't use an invite link to join the platform.
  • Creating an account on LBRY and setting up your profile also earns you a few LBC.
Like any other cryptocurrency you can buy it, mine it or have it sold to you by someone else.
As the platform continues to gain popularity, the LBRY rewards program is likely to change. Just like bitcoins which were once readily available but are now valued at thousands of dollars.

LBRY app is available for Android, iOS, Windows, Linux and macOS.

You can also check out LBRY's future plans here.
If you decide to use LBRY and you can follow me there and watch all my videos on LBRY.

LBRY also has a YouTube Partner Program where YouTube creators can sync their channels with the platform instead of uploading each and every video from their YouTube channel. The only requirement is having 100+ subscribers.
You can also find me on Mastodon which is a decentralized alternative to Twitter. More about it can be found here. Friendly tip: If you join Mastodon, DO NOT USE URL SHORTENERS IN YOUR POSTS OR PROFILE. No one's going to pay attention to them.

If you don't like tech giants like Google, Huawei, Microsoft, you can use platforms like LBRY and PeerTube which is also a decentralized video sharing platform.
More information on LBRY can be found on its FAQ page.

Entity Relationship Diagrams An  entity relationship diagram  (ERD) is a common way to view data in a database. Below is the ERD for the database we will use from Parch & Posey. These diagrams help you visualize the data you are analyzing including: The names of the tables. The columns in each table. The way the tables work together. You can think of each of the boxes below as a spreadsheet. What to Notice In the Parch & Posey database there are five tables (essentially 5 spreadsheets): web_events accounts orders sales_reps region You can think of each of these tables as an individual spreadsheet. Then the columns in each spreadsheet are listed below the table name. For example, the  region  table has two columns:  id  and  name . Alternatively the  web_events  table has four columns. The "crow's foot" that connects the tables together shows us how the columns in one table relate to the columns in another table. In this first lesson, you will be learning the bas

(Easy)Getting Started With R - Gapminder Dataset Part 1(Free Tutorial)

This guide will get you started on the path to exploring and visualizing your own data with the R programming language. It introduces you to the tidyverse which is a collection of data science tools within R for transforming and visualizing data. This is not the only set of tools in R, but it's a powerful and popular approach for exploring data. At every step, you'll be analyzing a real dataset called gapminder. Gapminder tracks economic and social indicators like life expectancy and the GDP per capita of countries over time. The experience you gain on this example will help you in analyzing your own data. You'll learn to draw specific insights and communicate them through informative visualizations with the ggplot2 package.  The first code you'll write is to load two R packages, which is done by writing library(packagename). R packages are tools that aren't built into the language, but were created later by other programmers. Each of them provides tools
